“I happen to believe the world will change only when we change ourselves. And that starts with finding ourselves: learning to quiet the clamor in our minds and the voices of everyone around us and move toward what feels right – toward the things we know, for reasons we can’t explain, that we’re meant to do, the things that makes us feel alive.” - Kelly Cutrone
Melt into 7 days and 6 nights under the warm orange Sri Lankan sun, whilst discovering the diversity of the South Coast -- the heart of pristine beaches, golden shores, glassy surf, luscious forrest, fragrant curries and wide smiles.
This yoga respite is an opportunity to relax, re-evaluate and re-ignite your passion and purpose. Our exclusive retreat venue is sunken into nature, between the lakes edge, the forrest and the ocean, where creativity runs wild.
Your practice will undoubtably strengthen with twice daily vinyasa and restorative yin yoga and your mind will uncoil as you spend the remainder of your days snoozing under the dappled shade of trees by the pool, surfing the local breaks, learning about the local culture and food or indulging in an ayurvedic massage.
Sometimes it just takes a little push, a little discomfort, a little sign to realise that you can have access to exactly what you’re looking for. We can’t wait to retreat with you and know you’ll instantly feel at home away from home.
Nothing short of paradise. Lanka Yoga is on Koggala Lake in the little-known village of Duwamalalagama. This location puts us at the first of the famous surf beaches on the South Coast of Sri Lanka. Just 5 minutes from the pristine white sandy beaches in Habaraduwa town and 10 minutes to the famous surf at Kabalana and Dewata.
The venue itself is one of a kind. Located on the water’s edge, we offer a calm alternative to the sometimes-hectic nature of the beachside locations. The generously spaced venue has open plan living, nooks and crannies, an elevated yoga shala, a spectacular pool, lush gardens including a substantial vegetable garden, an abundance of juicy fruit trees and more.
November to March is the dry season; in this period, it’s mostly clear and sunny, the beaches are bigger, and the surf is at its best. This time of year is perfect for a ‘summer'
This retreat is led by Zoe Klein. She has been teaching since 2015, traveling globally to learn and share the practice. Having taught over 2000 hours of public classes she is well-equipped to facilitating safe and customised practices for all levels of experience.
This retreat has been in the making ever since Zoe adventured to Sri Lanka in 2019. She had the pleasure of teaching yoga amongst the coconut trees whilst falling in love with the culture, the people, the incredible food and the warm Indian Ocean. It was here that she found the time and space to recognise what was really important. She healed old wounds and got clear on her direction in life. She changed careers and reignited her creativity. She knew this was an experience and opportunity that had to be shared, with you.
Zoe’s teaching style is fluid, creative and always with a philosophical undertone. Expect carefully curated music, authentic stories, laughter and most importantly her undivided presence. More about Zoe here
Relish in twice daily yoga practices with Zoe. You will have the opportunity to recieve personalised feedback, time to ask questions and if you wish, work on stronger poses. The complete practice will be upheld by including asana, meditation, pranayama, mantra and workshop style classes. All practices will be held in the purpose built open air yoga shala.
Grow & Flow: All of your morning classes. These vinyasa classes will be fluid, dynamic and breath based, with a sprinkle of workshop style education. You will leave these practices feeling confident, clear and ready to soak up the day.
Rest & Realign: All of your afternoon classes. These classes will jump between hatha/restorative/yin type practices, yoga nidra, breath work and meditation.
Some yoga experiences recommended but not essential.
The key to an amazing getaway is great food and Sri Lankan food is nothing short of extraordinary. It's my favourite cuisine from anywhere in the world. For breakfast, lunch and dinner you will enjoy a Michelin chef designed Sri Lankan fusion menu. All meals are vegan and utilise as much local and home grown ingredients as possible. Immerse your taste buds in the mouth watering local cuisine with just the right amount of western familiarity. The kitchen is open plan in the villa's main living area, meaning our cooks are on display as they prepare each meal. We will learn the key to their amazing food with a traditional Sri Lankan cooking class and explore the plethora of street vendors selling delicious Hoppers, Roti, Kottu & Samosas.
We can support your dietary requirements if you let us know in advance.
